Dance Reel
Maia Southers discovered her love of dance as a young child. She would dance to any music she heard. Her mom knew she had to enroll her in dance classes as a toddler; Maia would run to the door of a hip hop class at her mom's gym, stand in the doorway and just dance her heart out. At two and a half, she was enrolled in dance classes and she continued at the same studio where she trained daily, performed, and competed until she graduated from high school and then was accepted to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she continued to train, grow, and learn more about dance and performing.
After primarily dancing contemporary styles, jazz, and ballet technique during her formative training and competing years, AMDA inspired Maia's love for both musical theater and commercial jazz styles.
Maia has the ability to connect with the audience through dance because she uses it to express her deepest feelings. She is eager to be a well-rounded performer in the industry and would like to have the opportunity to experience using her skills in broadway, television, movies, and tours. In her spare time, Maia loves to draw, paint, and create dance films.
